Manly Warringah Touch Association is proud to announce the appointment of Bernie Morrison as the Association’s first-ever Director of Coaching — a milestone moment in MWTA’s commitment to building a world-class coaching program.
Bernie returns to Manly Touch with deep roots at the Association, having previously coached our Premier League Women’s side in the 1990s. In the decades since, he has built one of the most decorated high-performance coaching careers in the sport, amassing multiple Touch World Cup victories with Australia, Trans-Tasman series wins with both the Australian and New Zealand Open teams, State of Origin success with Queensland and New South Wales, and sustained excellence across Brisbane Metro, Vawdon Cup, NZ Nationals, and the National Touch League.
In this newly created role, Bernie will lead MWTA’s coaching development program, supporting coaches at all levels with the tools, resources, and mentorship they need to deliver outstanding touch football experiences. He will establish the club’s coach appointment process and lead the appointment of coaches across all junior and senior representative programs. He will also work to embed a culture of performance and excellence across the club’s coaching pathways, in alignment with Touch Football Australia and NSW Touch Football frameworks.
MWTA’s Executive is thrilled to welcome Bernie back and looks forward to the lasting impact his leadership will have on our coaches, players, and community.
