NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

Date: Wednesday 17th September, 2025
Time: 7:00pm
Venue: Manly Touch Clubhouse, Nolan Reserve North Manly

A Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Manly Warringah Touch Association Inc. (MWTA) will be held on the above date, time, and venue.

Purpose of the Meeting
The purpose of the SGM is to conduct the election of a new Executive Committee of the Manly Warringah Touch Association.

The following Executive positions will be open for election:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • General Executive Member (1)
  • General Executive Member (2)
  • General Executive Member (3)

NB. The titles of the Executive positions were changed by Special Resolution at the last MWTA AGM and will be reflected in the new Constitution.

Those elected will serve out the current tenure of each respective role as follows:

  • President, Treasurer and General Executive Member (1) will be elected for the term that aligns with the role elected in 2024 (i.e. through to the 2026 AGM)
  • General Executive Member (2) and General Executive Member (3), will be elected for the term corresponding with those elected in 2023 (i.e. through to the 2025 AGM, with potential extension to 2027 if re-elected)

Eligibility to Nominate for Election
Nominees for any elected Executive Committee position must hold a Right to Vote Membership to be eligible. This includes:

  • Individual Members (as defined below)
  • Team Delegates (Winter or Summer Season) who meet the eligibility requirements
  • Life Members

Eligibility to Vote at the SGM
Voting rights at the SGM are extended to the following categories:

1. Individual Members

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must have had their application for membership accepted by the MWTA Executive Committee
  • Entitled to receive notice of General Meetings, and to attend, debate, and vote at the SGM and AGM

2. Team Delegates – Winter Season Competition

  • One Team Delegate (over 18) may represent each team registered in the Winter Season Competition
  • The Delegate must be the person listed as “Team Contact” on the online Team Registration Form
  • Membership for Winter Team Delegates is valid for one year from the team’s first match in that Winter Season (NSWTA Season 1, 2025)
  • A right, privilege, or obligation of a Team Delegate may be passed to another person from their team only if written notice is provided to the MWTA Executive at least 72 hours prior to the meeting
  • With the current Executive in Caretaker mode, this process will be supported by the NSWTA. This written notice must be sent to:

  • One Team Delegate (over 18) may represent each team registered in the Summer Season Competition
  • The Delegate must be the person listed as “Team Contact” on the online Team Registration Form
  • Membership for Summer Team Delegates is valid for one year from the team’s first match in that Summer Season (NSWTA Season 2, 2025)
  • A right, privilege, or obligation of a Team Delegate may be passed to another person from their team only if written notice is provided to the MWTA Executive at least 72 hours prior to the meeting
  • This written notice must also be sent to:

  • Life Members are entitled to attend, debate, and vote at the SGM

Voting Restrictions

  • Proxy voting is not permitted – no member may provide a proxy vote to another person
  • One person may only act as a delegate for one team (Winter or Summer) for the purposes of voting at the meeting

Non-Voting Attendees
The following individuals are welcome to attend the SGM but do not have voting rights, unless they are in one of the categories with eligibility to vote as outlined above:

  • Senior Representative Players
  • Representative Referee Members
