Great news! Even though the website states that Nolan Reserve is closed, Northern Beaches Council has allowed us to hold our Junior competition this afternoon, normally the fields would remain closed but they have granted us an exemption due to the shortened nature of our competition.
Therefore most of our junior competition games will go ahead as planned this afternoon with the following exceptions because some fields are still unplayable.- All games on Fields 1, 3 and 6 only will be rescheduled to Friday 4th December. Please double-check the Round 4 draw to see if your team is affected. Details on these makeup games will be announced in the coming weeks.
- Teams affected by these field closures are listed below:
Manly Touch apologises for the inconvenience caused to these teams but believes that it is important for as many games to go ahead as possible tonight. Please be aware that the remaining fields are safe to play on but some are wet so kids please bring a towel and change of clothes.Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Manly Touch wishes to advise the following important information for Round 2 of our Junior Summer Competition:
SPECTATOR NUMBERS
Please ensure you check the fixtures for Rounds 2 and 3 as there was an error with the published timeslots for many age groups earlier in the week that has since been rectified, so we ask that you re-check that you have the correct fixture information for your team.
SPECTATOR NUMBERS
Spectator numbers remain at three (3) persons per team in addition to one (1) coach/manager per team for games being played at Nolan Reserve Hubs A and B.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
To ensure we maintain a COVIDSafe environment please remember that social distancing measures are always to be maintained i.e. adequate spacing of not more than 1 person per 4 sq. metres. In particular when you arrive please head straight to your allocated field. We also ask that you vacate the playing fields immediately after your game.
In particular at Passmore Reserve, please ensure you are not within 3-5m of the playing field and there is plenty of space between each spectator on the sidelines.
KISS & DROP
Kiss & Drop will again operate out of the Nolan Reserve Carpark from 3:30pm Friday 23rd October 2020.
We ask that you enter Nolan Reserve Carpark from the Pittwater Road side, by turning into Kentwell Road off Pittwater Road and then turning left into the carpark entrance.
After entering the carpark continue to the Drop Off Zone which will be adjacent to the Clubhouse, have your passengers exit your vehicle and then continue around the U-turn bay and back out to the carpark exit.
To exit Nolan Reserve Carpark you will need to turn left out of the carpark entrance onto Kentwell Road heading west.
There will be parking available in the carpark beyond the Kiss & Drop U-turn bay.

October 15, 2020 at 7:14 pm in reply to: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – CHANGE IN SPECTATOR RULES FOR NOLAN RESERVE #9566manlytouchKeymaster[cmsmasters_row data_padding_bottom="50" data_padding_top="0" data_bg_parallax_ratio="0.5" data_bg_size="cover" data_bg_attachment="scroll" data_bg_repeat="no-repeat" data_bg_position="top center" data_color="default" data_padding_right="3" data_padding_left="3" data_width="boxed"][cmsmasters_column data_width="1/1"][cmsmasters_text animation_delay="0"]
This announcement specifically relates to games being played at NOLAN RESERVE in our Junior Summer Competition.
> For all games at Nolan Reserve, a total number of three (3) parents/guardians/spectators per team are allowed. This is in addition to one (1) coach or manager per team.
> For all games at Passmore Reserve, one (1) parent/guardian/spectator per player is still allowed. This is in addition to one (1) coach or manager per team.
—–
Manly Touch has been working with the NSW Department of Health to gain approval for our 2020 Junior Summer FRIDAY Competition to go ahead. Under the current NSW Government Public Health Orders, all community sports must limit public gatherings to a maximum of 500 persons at a venue at any one time.
Due to the nature of having multiple fields and large participation numbers on a Friday afternoon/evening we need to ensure that we do not breach these Public Health Orders.
Under our COVID-19 Safety Plan submitted to NSW Health for approval, we proposed the allowance of one parent or guardian per child playing. Unfortunately, as of 7PM this evening, we have not received the approval required to allow one parent or guardian per player, and as such we have had to make the decision of limiting the total number of parents or guardians per team to a total of three (3).
We appreciate the increased pressure that this rule change may cause but the alternative scenarios presented to Manly Touch were:
a) to cancel the Friday night competition completely; or
b) only play a limited number of games on a reduced number of fields
…both scenarios were deemed unacceptable by Manly Touch Executive and as such, the decision to limit spectator numbers was made.
The change to spectator numbers does NOT affect the games being played at Passmore Reserve as this is treated as a separate venue and has it’s own 500 person limit which will not be exceeded with one (1) spectator per player.
If there are any further updates from NSW Health we will advise via our website and social channels.
Manly Touch wishes all the teams in our Junior Summer Competition the best of luck for the season, and thank all our members for your patience and support.

Our Junior Summer touch football competition kicks off Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October 2020.
Please note that like all community sports Manly Touch must operate under the NSW Government Public Health Orders currently in place. For community sport, the limit for public gatherings is a maximum of 500 persons at a venue at any one time.
In ensuring we meet the Public Health Orders Manly Touch have put the following specific protocols in place to ensure our 2020 Junior Summer FRIDAY Competition is a COVID safe environment to play for our junior members:PHYSICAL DISTANCING
- Please remember that social distancing measures are always to be maintained i.e. adequate spacing of not more than 1 person per 4 sq. metres.
- There is to be no congregation around the Clubhouse or Ground Managers Information Desks.
SPECTATORS
- Only one (1) parent can attend while the current Public Health Orders are governing us. It is not something we want to have in place, however, due to the nature of having multiple fields and large participation numbers on a Friday afternoon/evening we need to ensure that we do not breach Public Health Orders. Therefore, we must adhere to the one (1) parent spectator limit.
HUBS
- Nolan Reserve will be split into two ‘Hubs’ and Passmore Reserve will also operate as separate ‘Hub’:
* Hub A – Nolan Reserve playing fields 1-5 (North)
* Hub B – Nolan Reserve playing fields 6-15 (South)
* Hub C – Passmore Reserve fields 1-5- A physical barricade has now been erected between fields 1-5 and 6-15 for the duration of the season.
- A maximum of 500 people are allowed inside each Hub at any one time.
ENTRY & EXIT POINTS
- Players playing on Nolan’s fields 1-5 can only enter and leave the playing fields via Pittwater Road north or the North Manly Bowling Club/Manly Touch Clubhouse car park.
- Players playing on Nolan’s fields 6-15 can only enter and leave the playing fields via Pittwater Road south or the Manly Cove car park.
- Players playing on Passmore Reserve can only enter and leave the playing fields via Campbell Parade.
- If players are playing in multiple time slots and need to move between Hubs, they will need to report to the sanitising station between the Hubs, change their playing shirts and sanitise their hands before being allowed to move into the new Hub.
- Parents moving between Hubs must check out of the Hub they were in and sign into the new Hub using the QR codes provided at the sanitising stations.
ARRIVE-PLAY-LEAVE
- We are operating under ARRIVE-PLAY-LEAVE protocol.
- When you arrive, please head straight to your allocated field. That means arrive 5 mins prior to your game, dressed ready to play, and go straight to your field. If arriving early remain in your vehicle until 5 mins prior to your game.
- There is a 15-minute break between games to allow enough time for players/spectators to vacate the fields before players/spectators arrive for the next round of games.
- Players and spectators must vacate playing fields, Nolan Reserve and Passmore Reserve immediately after your game – do not congregate.
- There are to be no pre-game warmups or post-game debriefs.
GROUND MANAGERS
- This year we will have three (3) Ground Managers, one for each Hub.
- The Ground Managers at Nolan Reserve will be located at the Manly Touch Clubhouse for Hub A, and the Southern Amenity building for Hub B.
- The Ground Manager at Passmore Reserve will be located at the southern end of the fields, adjacent to Campbell Parade.
- If you have any queries or questions, please direct these to the Ground Manager in your Hub.
GAME INFORMATION
- All U7’s and U9’s games at Passmore Reserve will be two (2) x 11½ min halves with a 2 min half-time.
- All U11’s to U17’s games at Nolan Reserve Hubs A and B will be a 25-minute straight game with no half time. If a try is scored teams then change direction in which they run.
- If there is a shared sideline you can sub anywhere along your defensive end of the field i.e. from the halfway line to the opposition’s try line. If it is a non-shared sideline, then you can sub anywhere from try line to try line.
HYGIENE & CLEANING
- There will be five sanitising stations located at:
* Manly Touch Clubhouse Ground Manager Desk
* Southern Amenity Ground Manager Desk
* Passmore Reserve Ground Manager Desk
* Bridge between Passmore Reserve to Nolan Reserve
* Public pathway splitting Nolan Reserve between Hub A and Hub B- NO sharing of water bottles or towels – all MUST be clearly individually labelled.
- NO hands in huddles – NO high fives and NO pre/post-game handshakes.
- NO Spitting.
- ALL players are to bring personal hand sanitiser to be used pre, during and post-game.
RECORD KEEPING
- Players must be registered in their respective team via MySideline before the commencement of Round 1.
- All players and spectators must sign in using the QR codes provided at each Hub.
- If parents move between Hubs they must check out of the Hub they were in and sign into the new Hub using the QR codes provided.
CANTEEN
- There will be NO canteen or BBQ this year due to social distancing restrictions.
COVID SAFE HYGIENE MARSHALS
- Our COVID Safe Hygiene Marshals will patrol the fields to ensure compliance with the before-mentioned protocols, especially moving teams/players/parents off the fields at the end of their games.
- They will be easily identifiable in their orange high-vis uniforms.
- They will also assist with spectators signing in using our QR Codes.
- Failure to follow the instructions of our Marshals or any Manly Touch Committee Member is a serious issue for Manly Touch. This could mean a show-cause notice as to why your team should not be removed from the competition.
WELL-BEING OF MEMBERS
- If you feel unwell, do not attend games and you must seek medical clearance before returning.
- If you have had contact in the past 14 days with a known or suspected case of COVID-19 or have returned from Victoria or an identified hotspot as listed on the NSW Health website (http://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates) you must not attend and seek medical clearance before returning.
- All suspected cases must be reported immediately to [email protected].
- Please refer to our website http://www.manlytouch.com/covid-19/ which includes our Safety Plan, Return-to-Play Protocols and Guidelines and a number of checklists and tips to ensure your safe return to play.
SUMMARY
If you would like to download a PDF version of these Covid-19 Safety Protocols click here
Manly Touch will continue to monitor the situation via NSW Health and NSW Touch Association. Should any change to the Public Health Order on public gathering limits be announced we will advise on this immediately.

Manly Touch would like to remind all U7 and U9 players and their coaches / managers / parents of the modified rules in place for these age groups in our Junior Competition. The key points for both age groups are listed below, for the complete set of rules please click here.
Key Points for U7s
The most important modification in U7s is the attacking team is allowed their full set of 6 touches regardless of any infringements.
Drop balls, late or forward passes, over the mark, etc count as a touch. In effect, each team gets 6 chances with the ball in attack. Any infringement is not ‘play on’ it is counted as a touch. This same rule is used for all junior rugby league games at this same age group.
It is important to note that defenders are not able to move up until the first receiver has touched the ball or the dummy-half runs with the ball. This same rule is once again used for all junior rugby league games at this same age group and is easy for referees to enforce.
We also don’t want the dummy-half to run with the ball, they should stand up and pass the ball. There will be pink bibs if any team wants to nominate a dummy-half for a period of time (but it doesn’t matter if another player goes to DH, it is just a training tool).
Key Points for U9sNormal touch football rules apply for U9s, however, like U7s the defence is not able to move up until the first receiver has touched the ball or the dummy-half runs with the ball.
