Our Junior & Senior Summer Competitions are just around the corner. Please check out the information below and also on our Junior & Senior Competition pages so you don’t miss out on being part of our summer of touch!
KEY LINKS FOR REGISTRATION
> There will be a separate date, as shown below, for each age group to register, U15s is TONIGHT, MONDAY 31ST JULY and on all dates registration will open at 7.00pm.
> Please ensure you have an account with MYSIDELINE in advance if you are the person responsible for registering a team. To register a team go to COMPETITION SEARCH and type Manly Warringah Touch Association to see a list of competitions available.
> We will continue to keep each age group open until capacity is reached. We have created a HELPFUL GUIDE on how to register a team and how to register as a player.
> If you find that capacity has been reached in the competition you are trying to register in, please DO NOT PANIC. Simply head to our WAITLIST to complete the form. We will endeavour to contact our waitlisted teams as soon as the registration process is complete.
JUNIOR SUMMER COMPETITION
Our Junior Summer Competition will revert back to our old schedule running from September through to December and will NOT continue into the new year. Please see key dates below for your reference.
We are also very pleased to announce the addition of lights at Passmore Reserve. This means our Junior Summer Competition capacity will be increased in 2023. It is extremely unlikely we will need to turn any teams away and at the very least we will be able to provide a spot for all waitlisted teams within a competition grade. This is a fantastic result and creates a wonderful opportunity to make our Junior Summer Competition bigger and better in 2023!
Key Team Registration Dates:
As per last year there will be a separate date for each age group to register on and on all registrations will open at 7.00pm. We will provide a link to the MySideline platform when registrations have opened. We will continue to keep each age group open until capacity is reached. We will then provide a waitlist link for all teams that try to register after competition capacity has been exhausted.

manlytouchKeymasterSarah Peattie was appointed as Interim Secretary in April 2021 and later that year, at our AGM, was elected to the Manly Touch Executive Committee as our Secretary.
MWTA President Graham Knights acknowledged the valuable contribution and input Sarah has had over the last two years. “Being on the Manly Touch Executive Committee is one of the toughest volunteer roles of all, and Sarah has performed her role with the same dedication she displays when playing touch football for Manly,” he said.
Having a current Manly Touch Premier League player on the Executive has been invaluable, giving our representative players a voice on the Executive whilst also offering an insider’s view of how our club can support, utilise and interact with our representative players.
Sarah has had to resign from her position on the Executive as she has decided to embark on an overseas sojourn for the next year or two. We wish Sarah safe travels and will miss her presence, not only from the Executive Committee, but around Nolans in our local comps and on the representative touch field.
As a result of her resignation, a casual vacancy existed on the MWTA Executive Committee.
Therefore as per the MWTA Constitution, the MWTA Executive has appointed Chloe Butcher as an interim Executive Committee member until the next MWTA Annual General Meeting.
“Chloe Butcher is a well known player and coach at Manly Touch, whilst being an experienced orthopaedic nurse practitioner and surgical assistant in her professional life. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the game having played not only for Manly but also NSW and Australia, and has been an integral part of our junior coaching ranks for the last few years, spear heading the development and mentoring of some of our up and coming junior female coaches. Chloe brings an enormous amount of enthusiasm and positivity to the Executive and we look forward to working with Chloe and continuing to take our great club forward with her assistance,” Graham said.
Chloe joins Manly Touch President Graham and Vice President Kate Perrett, along with Treasurer Paul MacPherson to make up the Executive Committee.

This year’s NSWTA Junior State Cup Northern Conference event saw the Manly Junior Representative teams and their entourage travel for the first time to Dubbo on the last weekend in February….and Dubbo, you did not disappoint! Fields like bowling greens, quality touch across all age divisions, space to roam to catch all our teams in action, great food options on ground, walking distance from our accommodation – it had it all.
Over the three-day event our teams raced to finals day on Sunday with an impressive 51 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses from our 10 teams competing. A massive 458 tries were scored by our teams on the first two days during the pool phase, with only 74 tries conceded – impressive indeed.
As with any sporting event, Manly Touch had some heartbreaking results to knock some teams out of their finals race on Day 3, but with all teams progressing to at least the Quarter Finals, 5 teams going all the way to the Grand Final, and our 16s and 18s Girls coming our Champions, Manly Touch finished second on the Club Championship table, narrowly beaten by Renegades for the first time in 10 years.
Our 16s and 18s Girls progressed through to the NSWTA 2023 JSC State Finals on March 5th, taking on the winners of the JSC Southern Conference in their divisions in a best-of-three series. Our U18s Girls were victorious over Canberra Brindie, with our U16s Girls going down to Hills on the day.

Sunday 23rd October sees the last round of Vawdon Cup 2022 and it would be remiss of Manly Touch not to update everyone on how our six teams have faired this season and how our finals campaign is shaping up.
Women’s Premier League –
Our WPL team heads into their last round game top of the ladder, having won 8 games and drawn 1 game this season. They will play 7th placed Central Coast in the last round game tomorrow but the result here will have no impact on their standing and they will get the first week off in the finals rounds playing the major semi final on Friday 4th November. Top try scorer for the team is Maddi McGrath with 8 tries.Women’s Division 1 –
Our WD1 team currently sits third on the ladder with 5 wins and 2 losses from their games thus far. Their last round game is against 8th placed Carlingford Cyclones and depending upon results will likely be playing in the Elimination Finals against the 6th placed team next Friday 28th October.Women’s Division 2 –
Our WD2 team have a forfeit in the final round and will finish the rounds as minor premiers, having won all their games. The Division 2 finals series sees the top 4 teams head straight into semi finals on Friday 28th October and our WD2 team will play the major semi final against the second ranked team. The top try scorer for the team is Grace French with 7 tries.Men’s Premier League –
Our MPL team have had a tough season unfortunately not chalking up a win as yet, but having lost 4 of their games by only 1 point there are positives to be found in these results. Their final game of the season is against Parramatta and there is no doubt the team will finish the season with a strong performance.Men’s Division 1 –
Our MD1 team are hanging on to a top 6 finish on the ladder, and hence a spot in the Elimination Finals next week, with one game to play tomorrow against Norths who sit 5th on the ladder. A win will see them place outright 6th so best of luck to our MD1 team in their quest to keep their season alive.Men’s Division 4 –
Our MD4 team have not posted a win this Vawdon Cup season but have remained competitive throughout with some close results against some class competition. Their final game tomorrow is against the Appin Warriors who are top of the table. For all Vawdon Cup fixture, results and ladders click here.

At our recent AGM, we farewelled our President Ian Kalms, who announced that he would be standing down from his position.
Manly Touch would like to thank Ian for his valuable contribution over the last 7 years. Ian was our Treasurer from 2015-2018 and then President from 2018 to 2022, whilst also acting-Treasurer for much of his Presidency. Holding down these two very important positions has seen Ian dedicate many, many hours to the club – whether that be facilitating our local competitions for juniors and seniors, securing new sponsors and associated revenues, or introducing new processes and procedures to improve our delivery of services to our members to name a few areas.
During Ian’s tenure we have seen enormous growth in our junior competition numbers, from a mere 187 teams in 2015 to a whopping 380 teams in 2022, whilst also introducing an U7s competition to cater to our youngest of touch footy players. Our senior competition has also grown despite a declining trend in participation across the sport and we have managed to secure the NSWTA Affiliate of the Year for the entire duration of Ian’s tenure on the Executive Committee. Ian was also instrumental in overcoming the hurdles of Covid restrictions and wet weather that we have experienced over the last 2 years to deliver our touch football competitions for the local community in an extremely successful manner.
We would not have been able to achieve the success this club has experienced in recent years without his valuable contribution – Ian will be truly missed by everyone on the Executive.
Thank you Ian.

Manly Touch would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of Caren Friend to our club as she recently stepped down from her role on our Management Committee. Caren has been our Referee Director for the past 15 years whilst holding down an incredibly important role in her professional life. Her contributions to our broader community during the Covid-19 pandemic should not be overlooked.
Caren has provided significant guidance and mentorship to our Manly Touch referees, and we will be forever grateful for this. Caren will assist our new Referee Director Brandon Sanderson transition into the role over the course of this season, we welcome Brandon.
Over the years Manly Touch has often struggled to provide enough referees for Senior and Junior State Cups, however, through Caren’s vast network she has been able to conjure up miracles for us to satisfy our NSWTA referee requirements. If it was not for Caren’s tireless efforts, we would not have been able to send all the representative teams we have wanted to over the years.
A huge thank you to Caren.
